Jasleen and our family were invited to a NICU Reunion yesterday. The NICU Reunion was to celebrate all the babies who where in the NICU that got better. Three days after Jasleen was born she was admitted to the NICU for severe Jaundice. The kind of Jaundice she had is: a blood group incompatibility (Rh or ABO problems): if a baby has a different blood type than the mother, the mother might produce antibodies that destroy the infant's red blood cells. This creates a sudden buildup of bilirubin in the baby's blood. Incompatibility jaundice usually begins during the first day of life. Since she had such a high buildup of bilirubin, she was admitted to the NICU for treatment. Jasleen was in the NICU for a week on antibiotics to cure the Jaundice.
Yesterday I took the girls and the hubby to the reunion, they had so much fun winning prizes, getting their face painted "except for Daisy", Daisy did not like the lady dressed up as a clown touching her face. Arts & Crafts, They decorated their own clovers "being St. Patrick's Day as well" The Teddy Bear Clinic" the hospital gave them each their own teddy bear. They got to name it, weigh it, get its temperature and its height." and getting to see Dora the Explorer and Diego. Daisy wasn't very fond of seeing the characters in person. The NICU department also did a collage of all the babies who where in the NICU, and Jasleen got to be a part of it. Such a fun day, I am so glad we were invited to an awesome event!
